Science in action at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Kochi!
The 2nd year M.Sc. Forensic Science students engaged in an immersive hands-on session on the extraction of explosive residues from simulated samples, as part of their Explosive & Petroleum Analysis coursework.
A controlled mock crime scene was recreated using firecrackers, where materials like wood, paper, plastic, metal, and cloth were exposed to understand how explosive residues interact with different surfaces. Students then meticulously collected and preserved samples, following standard forensic protocols, before proceeding with extraction and analysis.
This practical experience provided valuable insights into real-world forensic investigation techniques, reinforcing classroom learning with applied scientific practice.
At JAIN Kochi, experiential learning continues to empower students with the skills and confidence to excel in their fields.
